Best of the Week: 26 July, 2014

best new music of the week from mofidelity.co
Raya Raycheva

Happy weekend, kids, and welcome to another installment of the newly established Saturday special offering a round-up of the best new music of the week.

And boy, this week has been a good one.

Top of the list has to be SBTRKT’s long-awaited return with tribal sounding new track “New Dorp, New York” featuring Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend on vocals.

It’s damn good and we can’t wait for a whole damn album – “Wonder Where We Land” will be released in September and will be followed by a tour in October!

Another thing to put in your “Pretty Awesome” file was Krystal Klear’s decision to share a bunch of old cuts for free download on soundcloud so please do enjoy those below.

Perfect human Banks shared a new track a few days ago and everyone, of course, loved it. Heads up, Banks is fantastic live and it’s criminal that we never wrote a review of the gig we went to but that was before we got serious about this blog. Everything will be reviewed (in our signature unprofessional way) from now on.

Now listen to “Beggin for Thread” below.

Next – new track from our favourite, over-sexual, Canadian The Weeknd. “King of The Fall” is free for download and also very, very descriptive and NSFW. Unless you work at like Vice or something.

The other day we posted a review of West London’s neo-soul anonymous collective Jungle’s debut album and, fittingly enough, wunderkind producer Lxury shared his remix of “Time”. Ok, technically that was the day before our review but whatever.

We covered Jessie Ware’s new video for “Tough Love” in our first Best of the Week installment and now the single, which will be released on August 3, has a remix from Sango.

Excuse the size of player, please. Troubles with embedding!

Ben Pearce remixes the debut single “Own Up” by Iraqi-Australian house tornado Motez, out now on Sweat it Out Music.

TOTAL CHANGE OF PACE NOW because we like to keep you on your feet at all times. We’re going slow and lyrical and eerie with “Worry Heart” – the first single from Evy Jane‘s upcoming EP “Closer” on Ninja Tune.

We’ve listened to the EP and can say that it’s fantastic. Review to be posted soon!

While we’re here, let’s listen to Young Fathers‘s remix of Tricky‘s “Nicotine Love” complimented by a free download.

That’s for slightly weird moods and don’t we all have those.

WOAH! What do you mean we’re flipping sounds completely once again??!! Oh my go Raya, I can’t keep up!

Yep, that’s how we do things here. We keep it eclectic. And now we have Diplo‘s remix of “Tennis Court” by Lorde, the girl we all wish we could’ve been at 17 (and now for that matter).

We recapped Diplo’s episode of Annie Mac’s Superstar DJs the other day and now that recap is our sole traffic provider so you might as well check it out.

Continuing with new Joe Goddard! “Endless Love” is from the upcoming “Endless Love” EP to be released, of course, on Greco-Roman.

I want to finish on a silly note with Pharrell‘s new video for “Come Get It Bae”. I was gonna ask “Is it wrong that I’m enjoying this?” and judging by the amount of thumbs down – yes, yes it is.

Guilty pleasure of the week then? We can work with that.

Enough now!

If you want to get as-it’s-happening updates on select cool tracks, downloads, sets and mixes – follow us on facebook!

Now have a good weekend guys!

EDIT: We’re adding one more exactly 3 minutes after publishing the post because it’s so damn hard to keep up a good and proper list!

Bondax‘s “All I See” gets the remix treatment from Darius. Listen!
