Pacho & Pepo – From The East With Love (Cloning Sound, 2014)
Pacho & Pepo are a DJ and production duo hailing from the picturesque town of Plovdiv, Bulgaria*, a place more famous with its ancient historical sights and cheap alcohol than with its electronic music scene. The love for strong four-on-the-floor rhythms is, however, there and the creators of the release we’d like to present you in a bit, are some of the key figures for nourishing it.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration if I say that Pacho & Pepo have been DJing and producing for about 20 years now. In 2001 they founded the first professional DJ agency in Bulgaria, E-Booking, and two years later – the house music label Ellectrica Recordings which has achieved a cult status among local fans.
In 2009 they founded Cloning Sound, a new label focused on intelligent techno and tech house vibes, and 2010 saw the establishment of another imprint, Stolen Soul Music, which covers the soulful and deep spectre of house music. As you can see, they’ve kept themselves busy.
But that’s not all. Between running their labels and having their own weekly radio show on Ibiza Global Radio (every Wednesday at 2 AM GMT+1), Pacho and Pepo also find the time to DJ at parties all over the continent, the latest of which took place on 29 November in London’s venue EGG and just in time to prepare the ground for the release of their brand new EP on Cloning Sound, ‘From The East With Love’ EP which is out now exclusively via Beatport.
The title track blends joyful percussion with the mysteriously romantic sound of a clarinet, an instrument which is very popular in those parts of Europe and which could not be often heard in dance music tracks.
As for the other two: both ‘In My Mind’ and ‘The Change’ are heavy tech house bangers which will liberate your soul and put you into the right mood for partying with their soft bass lines and powerful beats!
The official release date is 15 December, but right now you can get ‘From The East With Love’ exclusively from Beatport.
